Bridging the gap between agricultural education and professional excellence.

GrowthInAgric develops the next generation of high-performing agricultural professionals in Africa — converting promising graduates into deployable agri-professionals in three months.

The Challenge

A widening gap between graduates and the industry that needs them.

Nigeria's universities produce thousands of agricultural graduates every year. Yet the sector's fastest-growing employers still cannot find the talent they need.

01

The graduate–industry disconnect

Graduates leave university with strong theory but critically limited exposure to real business environments. Employers consistently report gaps in problem-solving capacity, technical know-how, and the soft skills entry-level roles demand — forcing businesses into costly retraining that lean start-ups simply cannot afford.

02

The start-up talent dilemma

Agricultural start-ups are the most dynamic, employment-generating segment of the sector — but they operate lean and cannot compete on salary. A study of agro-allied firms in South-West Nigeria found fewer than 5% of graduates had the social intelligence and entrepreneurial competencies start-ups depend on most.

03

Gaps in the existing ecosystem

General employability programmes lack agriculture-specific technical depth. Extension services lack the business and leadership components modern agri-enterprises demand. And no structured mechanism exists to systematically channel equipped graduates directly into agricultural start-ups.
